Program Dates:
Program duration is a minimum of two years (Master’s level)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be graduates from developing countries

  • Must hold a degree in fields such as law, economics, social sciences, political science, public policy, or public administration

  • Demonstrated commitment to contributing to the socio-political and economic development of their home countries

  • Relevant professional or voluntary work experience is preferred

  • Proficiency in English or German (language certificate required)

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official DAAD Helmut Schmidt Programme website

  2. Select up to two eligible Master’s courses and rank them by preference

  3. Fill out the DAAD application form completely

  4. Submit the required documents directly to the respective Master’s course university (not to DAAD)

  5. Ensure all documents are submitted by the stated deadline

  6. Wait for selection results and upload final documents to the DAAD portal if selected

Required Documents

  • Completed and signed DAAD Application Form

  • Motivation Letter (max. 2 pages; same letter if applying to two courses)

  • Curriculum Vitae (in reverse chronological order)

  • University Degree Certificates and certified translations

  • Academic Transcripts with grading explanation

  • Proof of Practical Experience

  • Current Letter of Recommendation

  • Valid English Language Proficiency Certificate

  • Completed DAAD Checklist Form
